blog

SO, today I read stuff on CNN, and i found this hilarious link - http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/09/27/germany.satire.apple.front/index.html?hpt=C2

It's about a group of people who argue against not native apples in germany, and they parody the neo-nazis in germany. it's totally amazing how they can use satire to do such a great thing. Also, its frightening to consider the fact that neo-nazis are gaining power in germany. But why, why would you supposrt such a radical racist such as Hitler? It's stupid, because obviously, you're fighting against people who are going to be there no matter what

Troy (The Movie)

See how I'm obsessed with that war? Any way, many of you probably already heard about this movie, it's called Troy, here's the IMBD. Our class watched it in English last year. It's soooo good!! Well, Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and my favorite from the three, ERIC BANA!! You can't get better than that.

It's actually very factual too. It's about the Trojan war between the Greeks and the Trojans after Paris, prince of Troy, stole Helen, the most beautiful girl in all of the lands, from Menelaus, a king of Greece. It's really moving, surprisingly, and really gives you a great introduction to the events of that time. AND THE COSTUMES!!!! Gosh, I mean, it was up for an Oscar with those beautifully done robes and dresses!

Great movie, every one's encouraged to see it, uh, mature content might not be suitable for children, viewer discretion is advices.

Troy (Book by Adele Geras)

I've been meaning to write a review on this book for a while now, and it's a book that's been highly enjoyable, and every educational too. It's about two sisters in the last year of the Trojan war, which had lasted for a good part of their short lives. Xanthe, the older one, in the service of Hector's wife, Andromache, and Marpessa, the younger, in the service of Helen. Here's the scoop: Xanthe loves this wounded soldier from the battle, Alastor. Xanthe's childhood friend, Iason, loves Xanthe, and their friend, Polyxena, loves Iason. Now, Alastor's in love with the other sister, Marpessa, and eventually, Marpessa drops her shield for this handsome man. But the war is ending, and with that comes the deaths of the great warriors, Achilles, Hector, and Paris, and with their deaths comes turmoil and ultimately, the Trojan's fall from grace.

Now read that, and tell me which girl won't like this book? I loved it, it was filled with love and tragedy, and it's surprisingly very accurate to the history, which I love. It was a book I couldn't put down, that's all I can say!! Five stars out of five, and recommended to any one, though mature content is included, viewer discretion is advised.

Zoe, put it on the main page first

Glee

I'm sure most of you have heard of this show before. It's not for everyone, but I LOVE it. The first season was really great, I enjoyed it every week. It's about a bunch of mistfits in a glee club. They're all really different people, but they can all relate to each other through music. It's a funny show, but it also has really heartfelt moments and can be very dramatic. There are a bunch of different elements to the show, and everyone can relate to it in some way. Season 2 premieres in just over a week, on Tuesday, September 21st. I personally can't wait for the new episodes! If you want to start watching, CastTV will work for some episodes, otherwise try tvduck.com.

Mr Sale

So Mr Sale, for the guys who don't know who he is, he was our Socials teacher last year, he has asked if we can add some other people to the blog and let them post stuff for marks. I think this is a good idea, so if no one gives me some kind of "NOOOOOOO, this is the most disasterous thing in the world" comment/post, then I'm going through with it. I don't know about admin settings, that's up to whatever Mr Sale says, so we'll see that later.

And We're back!

Sorry, for the misunderstandings and the horrible problems, but all is fixed and no one should dwell on the unwelcomed past. Now, I'm glad that we're back on the air, but I realize that for those pages, they are not filled up as much as I had hoped, and I know everyone's busy, cough cough all but four of you are Middle Years students, and that means work work, mom work, work and more work. But I want you to read, I mean, you guys read right? Or watch a movie or TV show, and I just want you to fill up those pages so we can really get going!!!!!!! Thanks a lot guys!!!! And Geoffrey, add a science page if you want to, that'll be wonderful!
